Swedesboro Council Member Heads to Italy for Dragon Boat World Championships

It seems Swedesboro Council Member Diane Hale is always on the go.  With council and committee meetings, family and work obligations, volunteering at Borough events, and her hard work making sure Swedesboro always looks beautiful, it might seem unlikely that there’s time left for much else.

However, Ms. Hale’s got a really interesting hobby that she enjoys as well- she’s a member of a women’s dragon boat team!  From their website: “The Schuylkill Dragons, founded in 2001, is the oldest continuously active women’s dragon boating team in Philadelphia. The team includes paddlers of all levels ranging from beginners to those experienced in international competitions.  This team of women, ranging in age from 24 to 73, continues to shatter society’s preconceived notion of aging and to create great role models for women of all ages.”

As if that’s not cool enough, the Schuylkill Dragon Grand Masters is headed to Italy!  The team will be competing in the 9th Club Crew World Championships in Ravenna, Italy in September of 2014.  We’re so excited for Diane and her team, and we hope you’ll join us in wishing them best of luck as they embark on this amazing trip!
