Definitions of Recyclable Materials

Plastic Bottles & Jugs
  • Soda, milk and detergent bottles, jars and jugs.
  • All containers must be empty, lids off and should be rinsed.
  • Labels may be left on.
Glass Bottles & Jugs
  • Bottles, jars and jugs – clear, brown and green. Labels and metal rings may be left on.
  • NO cookware, window, auto or mirror glass.
Aluminum & Steel Containers
  • Beverage and food containers.  These may be placed in the same container. Pet food cans with plastic liners are acceptable.
  • Aerosol containers must be empty.
  • Labels may be left on containers.
Paper & Cardboard
  • All uncontaminated newspaper, magazines, books, junk mail, corrugated and cardboard boxes, computer and copy paper.
  • NO pizza boxes, wax milk cartons or waxed boxes.
  • Place mixed paper in Blue Recycle cart.
Large Metal Items & Appliances
  • Washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, ovens, dish washers, hot and cold water tanks, air conditioners, swing sets, bicycles, auto parts, lawn care equipment, furnaces and other items made of metal.
Leaves
  • Leaves and yard clippings will now be collected as part of the normal Vegetative Yard Waste Collection on Thursdays.
  • Leaves, grass clippings and other small yard waste may be placed in any standard trash receptacle (NOT the Brown or Blue cans from the Borough) OR paper leaf bags available in any hardware store.
  • Leaves placed curbside WILL NO LONGER be collected! Leaves in plastic bags will not be collected!
