Homebound Support Bags: Bringing Connection and Comfort to Our Community
In every community there are neighbors who, for many different reasons, are unable to leave their homes easily. Some are managing health challenges, others have limited mobility, and many simply feel isolated or lonely. Staying connected can be difficult – especially when everyday outings or social activities are no longer possible.
That’s why a wonderful new initiative called Homebound Support Bags has been created: to help prevent isolation and to offer meaningful support to individuals right here in Gloucester County.
Who Are These Bags For?
The Homebound Support Bags program is designed for:
-
Individuals who are homebound
-
People feeling isolated or lonely
-
Anyone looking for connection, comfort, and encouragement
Whether someone is recovering from an illness, unable to drive, or just in need of a little extra support, these bags are meant to brighten days and provide helpful resources that can be enjoyed from the comfort of home.
What’s Inside the Bags?
Each Homebound Support Bag is packed with free tools and materials to encourage engagement, activity, and well-being. The bags include:
-
Gloucester County Health Department resources to connect residents with important local services
-
A free printed 30-day activity calendar filled with enjoyable ideas and links to helpful websites
-
Access to a 60-day online activity program, offering even more opportunities for learning, creativity, and connection
All activities included in the bags are completely free and specifically designed to be done at home. The goal is to provide simple, uplifting ways for people to stay mentally and emotionally active while feeling supported and remembered.
Where Can You Pick One Up?
Homebound Support Bags are available at several convenient locations throughout the Woolwich and Swedesboro area:
-
Woolwich Township Police Department
120 Village Green Drive, Woolwich -
Swedesboro Borough Hall
1500 Kings Highway, Swedesboro -
Kings Things Christian Thrift Shop
1420 Kings Highway, Swedesboro
Supplies are limited, so community members are encouraged to pick up a bag while they are still available
This thoughtful initiative was organized with support from the Gloucester County Health Department and local volunteers, including Haley Blair of the National Honor Society at Kingsway Regional High School.
Programs like Homebound Support Bags remind us how important small acts of kindness and connection can be. If you know someone who could benefit from a little extra encouragement, consider picking up a bag for them. Together, we can help ensure that no neighbor feels forgotten.
