Letters from The Mayor: September 7,2007

Dear Friend of Swedesboro

This one is HUGE, and I am ecstatic to be able to report the following letter from the DOT:

Dear Mayor Fromm

On behalf of Governor Jon Corzine I am pleased to
inform you that Swedesboro Borough will receive an
allotment of $150,000 from the Transportation Trust
Fund for the Pedestrian Enhancement Project Phase II.

I can’t overemphasize the importance of the
Transportation Trust Fund as it continues to provide
much needed funding to communities throughout our
state without increasing the burden of local property
taxes.

David Kuhn
Director

This grant allows us to complete Phase 2 completely using the $200,000 federal grant and this $150,000 from the state. We were preparing for the possibility of only being able to do half this year – now we can do it the right way.

Please thank Senator Sweeney and his staff for all their help. We appreciate his continuing support for Swedesboro.

We also wish to acknowledge the efforts of Stan Bitgood and Bret Yates, of Federici and Akin, for their help in presenting our case to acquire these additional funds. This was definitely the most intense effort to date to secure a grant and also among the most important we’ve received, so thanks again to all involved.

Tom Fromm
Mayor of Swedesboro
