Alex’s Lemonade Stand at Woolwich Fire Department

Next Saturday, June 9, from 9 AM to 5 PM the Woolwich Fire Department will host its Second Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand in honor of Mario Carpino.

Mario Carpino, a second grader at Governor Charles C. Stratton School, has been battling four inoperable brain tumors since 2007. He is currently a chemotherapy patient at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and was inspired to host this event for three patient friends at CHOP: Leah, Jenna, and Lenny, all who lost their battle to childhood cancer.

Grill Safety for This Summer Season

Most households use propane grills for outdoor cooking. When preparing to use the grill for the first time this season, never use matches or lighters to check for leaks. Instead, apply a thick soapy water or leak-detection solution around the connection between the propane cylinder and grill hose. Bubbles will form if propane is escaping. If a grill has a gas leak, call the local fire department. Continue reading
