Local Business Spotlight: Old Town Bagel

Dan Calatozzo and Matt Schultes had no experience running a restaurant- in fact, they both share a background in the construction industry.  However, they saw a niche for a bagel shop in Swedesboro, and soon after, Old Town Bagel was born.  To learn more about the art of bagel making, Matt and Dan spent a week in New York, participating in a training program where they honed their craft.

The eatery opened its doors on June 1, 2012, and it has been a hit with local residents ever since.  Decorated in an old-fashioned, small town theme, the shop features a portrait display of historic sites around Swedesboro, mounted against a red brick background.

Old Town Bagel offers a variety of tasty treats, from their kettle-boiled bagels to hearty soups, salads, specialty bagel sandwiches, and delicious coffee.  All of the shop’s scrumptious offerings are made fresh on-site, and customers rave about the fresh-squeezed orange juice, as well as their chicken salad sandwiches.

Located at 617 Auburn Ave in the Fish & Calatozzo lot, Old Town Bagel is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on weekends.  You can reach the shop via telephone at (856) 467-0467, and be sure to look out for Old Town Bagel coupons in the Clipper and Val Pak advertisements that are delivered to your mailbox!
