Swedesboro Council Member Heads to Italy for Dragon Boat World Championships

It seems Swedesboro Council Member Diane Hale is always on the go.  With council and committee meetings, family and work obligations, volunteering at Borough events, and her hard work making sure Swedesboro always looks beautiful, it might seem unlikely that there’s time left for much else.

However, Ms. Hale’s got a really interesting hobby that she enjoys as well- she’s a member of a women’s dragon boat team!  Continue reading

Remembering Our Friend and Colleague, Jeff Coles

It is with immense sadness that we must share with you all the loss of a member of our Swedesboro family, Jeff Coles. Please see the following message from Mayor Fromm regarding this tragic news, and remember Jeff’s many friends and loved ones in your prayers.

Jeff Coles

“This weekend Swedesboro lost one of our family with the passing of our Chief Financial Officer Jeff Coles. Jeff’s contribution to our town cannot be adequately described because beyond his brilliance as our CFO he was a mentor and confidant to many of us. In my case he was someone who I trusted completely and who gave me the blunt truth when I needed it, whether it be a financial issue or when I sought out his advice on many, many issues that I had to deal with as Mayor. I will miss him tremendously as I am sure others on the Borough’s staff will.

As serious as Jeff was when it came to our town’s financial issues, when it came to talking about his sons Michael and Jason, he lit up the room with pride. He was tremendously proud of their achievements, especially that they had both worked so hard to become Eagle Scouts. Their athletic accomplishments and the snowboarding trips they took together were topics that Jeff loved to talk about. He loved his boys more than anything; that was obvious.

The Borough of Swedesboro offers our sincere condolences to Jeff’s family and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I lowered the Borough flag to half staff yesterday in honor of our friend and amazing public servant, Jeff Coles.

Mayor Thomas Fromm”
