Adult Basic Education, Digital Literacy, and Workplace Readiness at the GCLS Glassboro Library and GCLS Swedesboro Library

Classes begin in the summer of 2016, and will be taught by instructors from Rowan College at Gloucester County. Classes run for 14 weeks. Swedesboro classes include ESL skills. Participants will have the opportunity to gain work credentials in the fields of

 Health care
 Transportation
  Warehouse and distribution
  Food service and safety

To get information on how to qualify, please plan to attend one of the following information sessions. To register call the library or use the online calendar at www.gcls.org.

Candlelight Vigil for Victims of Addiction

There will be a candlelight memorial vigil on Wednesday 8/31 at 7:30pm to remember those who have lost their lives to the disease of addiction.  The vigil will take place at James G. Atkinson Millennium Plaza (138 Bethel Mill Rd, Sewell, NJ 08080).

Intersection at Auburn and Bridgeport Ave Closed 8/8 through 8/12

Please see information below regarding the railroad crossing rehabilitation and detour on Aurburn Avenue and Bridgeport Avenue between August 8th and 12th (weather permitting).  The intersection of Auburn Avenue and Bridgeport Avenue will be closed during that time as the existing railroad crossing will be removed and a new concrete railroad crossing will be installed with new asphalt. Traffic will be detoured between Kings Highway and Auburn Avenue by way of Mechanic Street.

(Railroad Safety Project) 14 Day Notice:  Railroad Crossing Rehabilitation  

Nature of Work:       The Railroad Crossing on Bridgeport Avenue will be closed from Monday August 8, 2016 at 7:00 AM until Friday August 12, 2016 at 7:00 PM.

Route/Direction/MP:  Bridgeport Avenue

Municipality/County:  Borough of Swedesboro / Gloucester County

Anticipated Traffic Impacts:  The Road will be closed and detoured at the Railroad Crossing.

Description of Detour:   Traffic will use Auburn Avenue, Mechanic Street and Kings Highway.

Proposed Start Date of Detour: Monday August 8, 2016

Any other comments:  The existing Railroad Crossing will be removed and a new concrete railroad crossing will be installed with new asphalt approached. The detour will be coordinated with the local police.

Disability Employment Job Fair

The Gloucester County Disability Employment Job Fair & Resource event will take place on Thursday, July 28, 2016 (9am – noon) at Gloucester County Adult Center for Transition (530 Salina Rd., Sewell, NJ 08080).

This will be a chance to meet employers with job openings and gain more insight on employment opportunities in the community so dress for success and bring copies of your resume.

To help prepare candidates for the job fair, there will be three free job fair workshops held on July 18th (10am-noon), 19th (1pm-3pm) and 20th (5pm-7pm) at the GC Adult Center for Transition (530 Salina Rd., Sewell, NJ 08080).  Learn from experts about how to land a job with an effective resume, social media techniques and job fair strategies.  Registration is required for these workshops at www.wibnj.com
