Thanksgiving Week Trash Pick Up

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday 11/28, Trash, Recycling and Yard Waste will be picked up on Friday 11/29.  Please place your carts out to the curb on Thursday after 5pm.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Discolored Water

Today, Monday November 25, 2019, it has been noted that there is a discoloration of the water coming through the Borough’s water system.  The Public Works Department is aware and has taken the necessary action to correct the issue.  If you see a pink/purple color to your water, run your faucet or flush your toilets until the water is clear.

SWSD Green Team Plastic Bag Recycling

We all know that plastic bags can not be placed in our recycle carts for pick up.  Are you wondering how these can be recycled?  The SWSD Green Team is collecting plastic bags to be recycled!  Plastic bags, including shopping bags, bread bags, zip top bags (please make sure they’re clean), plastic case overwrap, ice bags, newspaper sleeves, produce bags, bubble wrap (you can still pop all the bubbles first!) and dry cleaning bags to name a few can be sent into school with your Walter Hill or Stratton School students!  If you do not have a student in either school you are able to drop off items at the school’s main offices.

Recycle Cart Stickers

Beginning on Thursday November 21st, the Public Works Department will be placing “PLEASE RECYCLE” stickers on recycling carts while they are out at the curb for pick up.  This process will take about 6 weeks to complete throughout the Borough.  The stickers will be a quick reminder of what can and cannot be recycled as you are placing items in your recycle cart.
