In Memory of Wendy Beckett

Today the Borough of Swedesboro is lowering our Flag to half-staff in honor of Wendy Beckett, an extraordinary woman who served our community for decades.  Even if you did not know Wendy personally, I can almost guarantee that she has affected you in some way if you have lived in Swedesboro for a while.  Whether it was Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, the Christmas Parade, baseball coach, soccer coach, basketball coach, crossing guard or as Vice President of the Business Association, Wendy was involved – and these are just a few examples of her dedication to our town.

I have known Wendy and Dean since the early days of my kid’s involvement in sports because our children were the same ages.  There was never a time when Wendy wasn’t involved in organizing, fund raising or anything else that was needed.  She was dedicated, relentless and selfless in anything she was involved in.

Wendy Beckett was the finest example of a community volunteer and leader in Swedesboro and she will be missed.

The Borough of Swedesboro offers our sincere condolences to Dean, Cliff and Stephanie, Jennifer and Keith, Bret and Presley, Wendy’s mother Mrs. Evelyn Winter and the entire Beckett family.

Mayor Tom Fromm
