Water Tower Maintenance/Painting

Dear Swedesboro Resident,

Please be aware that starting on or about August 30th, 2021 the Borough’s  Elevated Water Tower located on Chestnut Street will be taken out of service for scheduled maintenance/painting.  Public Works and the Fire Company are taking appropriate measures to ensure that drinking water and fire protection water will not be significantly impacted, however, there is a possibility that you may experience some minor fluctuations in pressure at your home or business during the completion of the work to be done.  This necessary maintenance is scheduled to last approximately 6-8 weeks.  The end result will be a beautifully painted water tower that has had an internal inspection/power washing and any required maintenance on the exterior will have been completed as well.  It would be helpful if we all try to conserve water and reduce usage as much as possible while the work is being done.  We also need to make sure we are following the rules in regards to watering lawns, plants, filling of pools, and washing of cars during the next several months.  In case you aren’t aware watering and other high outside water usage activities are restricted to odd even days from April through October, based on your house number.  Please help by keeping to this schedule.

Our Borough team works hard to provide top quality water to every tap in town and we expect to do the same during this project.  Your help in conserving water during this important project will be greatly appreciated .

Please feel free to contact the Borough of Swedesboro at 856-467-0202 ext. 106 if you should have any questions.

Important Message Regarding Diesel Spill on Aug 17

Dear Residents,

On Tuesday night there was an operator error which led to an overfill and overflow of an above ground storage tank located on Davison Rd.

Upwards of 900 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled, with some of that product making its way into local streams, creeks, and ponds.

All notifications have been made to our local, county and state partners.  The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) for Swedesboro and Woolwich is working closely with the County Hazmat Team.

Currently, a clean up is underway.  As a precaution some of the bodies of water will have booms placed on and around them.

Our priority is the safety of the residents, environment, wildlife, fish, water foul, turtles, and vegetation.
